Hi,
I am a great believer of family as the first community, where values and power weave the most important livable non tangibles : happiness, love and future! But families are not alone, we belong to a society, whit its conventions and its constant betterment of a programmed future. And here I am, next to my family, while pursuing a Ph. D. Degree in Global and Sociocultural Studies at Florida International University (FIU), and living in Miami since 2014. |
Academic Interests, Experiences, and Achievements
Prior to live in the US, I taught 8+ years in the tourism program at University “Escuela Superior Politecnica del Litoral” (ESPOL) in Guayaquil - Ecuador, city and country where I was born and raised. Linking tourism with anthropology has become a goal in my career.
My research interests focuses on Tourism Development in rural and coastal areas, and Political Anthropology analyzing state-society relationships through sovereignty and resilience. I have presented academic works at several conferences, such as Annual Conference of American Anthropologists Association, Annual Conference of American Geographers Association, FIU–Forums and several universities in Ecuador.

As a Writer
Although I has write some academic articles in Spanish, today I have the challenge to publishing in English and it is not an easy task for me. Not only because my background as a non native English speaker, but the scholar approach adds some complexities in writing.
A personal goal for 2016 was to submit an academic article to a journal, looking forward its publication. However, writing my dissertation in a couple of years is my main goal. So I decided to take a Composition course to circumvent barriers such as structure and conventions. Here I am writing this e-Portolio more self-confident than some months ago while taking into account the habits of mind in writing. I look forward to continue teaching, researching and writing academic articles for such a long time.
